Review Iso Sensations 93 Isolate by Ultimate Nutrition

Awhile back, I did a review on my all time favorite protein by BioX (you can see it here). I LOVE their Power Whey Isolate. Prior to falling head over heals for Bio X , I was a faithful consumer and supporter of Iso Sensations 93 Isolates and Allmax's Isoflex. Today I am reviewing Ultimate Nutrition's Iso Sensation 93.

Iso Sensations 93 are a 93% PROTEIN ISOLATE (as the name implies) and has a great scoop size of 33g giving you 30g of protein isolate per serving (which is a perfect amount as you can only absorb 30-40 grams of ISOLATE protein at a time- they are predigested and go right to your muscle tissue for recovery and repair). Many people misunderstand reading protein labels. All Isolates tend to have around 88% and up pure protein (leaving less fat and carbs per serving) and the highest bio-availability. The easiest way to tell is to read the label and do the calculations. Don't think that because it says 50 grams of protein means it has more than a product that claims it has 30 grams/serving. The 50 grams may in fact have LESS protein per serving or just have a scoop size the size of my head :)

I will write more on Protein Comparisons and how to compare and read protein labels, the differences between proteins etc at a later date but here is a really quick primer:

For example:
Iso Sensations 93 has a lesser counterpart that is called Whey Sensations 81. Note that the label or product says WHEY and not ISOLATE. This typically means it is a cheap blend of either concentrate and isolate- or other proteins, or it is 100% whey concentrate. Whey Sensations actually has 81% per serving and is a good cheap basic whey.
Iso Sensations 93 has the following nutritional label:

Serving Size 1 Scoop (33g)
Amount Per Serving
Calories 130
Cholesterol 2mg
Carbohydrate 1g
Sugars less than1g
Protein 30g

So, if 1 gram of Protein has 4cal/gram than 30grams of protein (what is in the product per 33g serving) than 120 calories of the product come from protein (30g * 4 calories = 120). Now to figure out the PERCENT % OF PROTEIN PER SERVING (thus being able to qualify it as an isolate and compare it to other products) you take the 120 calories that come from the protein and divide it by the total calories per serving=
120 cal/ 130 cal = 0.923 or 92.3%
You can also easily divide the amount of protein per serving by the serving size in grams=I
30g of protein/ 33g of product.

The Whey Sensation Chocolate Truffle per the same size scoop ( I multiplied it out so the scoop size is the same for the comparison) 33 grams=
137cal
1.6g fat
3.3g carb
26.8g protein

Less protein per serving (because it's not a pure isolate) and therefore has more fat and carbs within the same serving size. 26.8g protein x 4cal/gram = 107.2 cal of the 137 come from protein. As for the percent of protein per serving of this product 26.8 g/ 33g serving size = 81%- much less bang for your buck.

Compared to Bio X Power Whey Isolate, Iso Sensations 93 (as are most proteins) is a thinner textured tasting protein. They have a wonderful Chocolate Fudge and Cafe Brazil! I find that the Chocolate Fudge has a really mild coconut flavor and is wonderful. This flavor is by far my favorite our of their options. I used to love their Cookies and Cream, until I tried Bio X's Cookies and Cream and haven't looked back since! They also have a nice , Strawberry, Natural Natural (no taste, flavor, sweetener etc) Vanilla Bean and a Banana. The stats vary slightly depending on the flavor.

This is a FANTASTIC product and recommend it without hesitation. The Chocolate Fudge is really worth trying! Great in Oatmeal, Shakes, eaten as pudding, with nut butters, in Protein Nutella, coffee, ice cream etc.
I love the quality, digestibility, taste and effectiveness of this product. As all Isolates, it dissolves almost immediately is a great addition to anyone looking to increase their protein!

Here is what the company says about the product:

Ultimate Nutrition is proud to release Iso Sensation 93 containing 100% IsoChill Whey Protein Isolate. IsoChill is a functional whey protein isolate, processed by a novel ultra-low temperature microfiltration process to contain a full balance of undenatured bioactive whey proteins including immunoglobulin (IgG), lactoferrin (Lf), and glycomacropeptide (GMP). It is derived from sweet whey, membrane-filtered and spray-dried by indirect heat to ensure the highest product quality.

This unique formula is further enhanced with colostrum. Colostrum has long been considered nature's first food. This pre-milk substance supplies nutrients and other necessary biological elements and activates and regulates numerous immune, growth, and repair processes. However the benefits do not stop at birth! Numerous studies have shown that colostrum continues to exert important biological activities when given to adults. As our bodies age, we produce less of the immune factors needed to maintain optimal health. Supplemental colostrum can help replenish these stores.

Iso Sensation 93 also includes an added glutamine complex. In times of stress, (weight training) certain parts of the body demand so much glutamine that the body can’t manufacture enough. In these instances, glutamine supplementation could make a world of difference. Intense training causes muscle cell glutamine levels to decrease, allowing for muscle breakdown. Supplementation of L-glutamine causes an anti-catabolic effect by keeping these levels elevated, thus preserving muscle mass and improving nitrogen balance. We’ve combined the most stable and readily absorbed forms into our complex. Being easily absorbed and bioavailable, peptide-bonded glutamine, N-acetyl L-glutamine and glutapure enter muscle cells fast, break down to free glutamine, and perform essential metabolic functions.

Optimizing insulin metabolism can support the muscle-building process. Our SI complex includes alpha-lipoic acid, d-pinitol and 4-hydroxyisoleucine. These ingredients are effective in improving insulin efficiency and sensitivity, and copying insulin's effects on muscle with another molecule altogether. A greater uptake of blood sugar by muscles could lead to enhanced glycogen synthesis and ultimately greater gains in lean muscle. In the end, they all favor better uptake of creatine, glucose and amino acids, and they enhance muscle recovery and growth without excess sugar use.

Finally, our enhanced delivery system includes D complex: a blend of the digestive aids protease and lactase for superior digestibility, ensuring maximum absorption and utilization of the nutrients in this formula. These enzymes contribute to the health of the digestive tract and can increase the utilization of whey protein. Try a gourmet-flavored Iso-Sensation today and you will be hooked. You will never go back to regular Whey Protein Isolate again.

BIOX Xtreme Power Whey Isolate

Many of you are aware that I have a LOVE affair with BIO X ISOLATE PROTEIN! I AM IN LOVE! I have been in the industry for YEARS- and have tried hundreds. The flavor profile, processing, manufacturing, quality and purity of the BioX isolates is unparalleled! The texture- CREAMY with water.
They are alkaline in the body due to being derived from Sweet Whey and have all 4 and 6 micro/macro fractions intact! They also have Aminogen- which is a patented digestive enzyme to help breakdown and absorb the protein.
Best CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER, CHOCOLATE, VANILLA, STRAWBERRY BANANA, COOKIES AND CREAM...

The Strawberry Banana is the only one I have had that doesn't taste artificial! It tastes creamy with water and I make a killer 'philly cream cheese' dip or cottage cheese/yogurt dip or bars with this.
Cookies and Cream is TO DIE FOR! smooth, sweet and mellow.
Chocolate- honestly- best chocolate ever. Creamy.
Vanilla- CREAMY, smooth- AMAZING.
Peanut Butter Chocolate- made with read defatted peanut flour- not artificial flavor! Killer! It's like a melted Reese's bar (less salty). Decadent and amazing. I used to LOVE Allmax Isoflex Peanut Butter Chocolate (and still like it but it's an artificial thinner texture) until this came out! I DIED. Strive has a thinner protein with this flavor as well.

I am not associated/paid/ endorsed nor have incentive to advertise this. I deal with protein/sports nutrition companies/sell DAILY and this brand is my love. It's a running joke by people that know me. I LOVE IT. I will do an Ultimate Nutrition and Allmax Isoflex review later. They also have some of the best NATURAL WHEY ISOLATE PROTEINS (STEVIA) to date.

This is from their site and explains why I love it (besides the taste). They also have a Fusion Matrix and an incredible Whey Protein Complex! Their Protein 32 bars are AMAZING as are most of their other products! The Protein 32 Bars have 32g of Protein, 8-10g OF FIBER! and no sugar!!
Check out their PERFORMANCE PROTEINS and CATALOGUE.

Xtreme Power Whey Isolate
Whey protein (Power Whey) is the cornerstone of our various protein supplements. Whey is a by-product of cheese manufacturing. In its native state, it is approximately 11% protein, 87% carbohydrates (lactose) and 2% fat. It takes nearly 100 lbs of whey to produce 8 lbs of Power Whey. Power Whey is isolated using a very gentle cross flow microfiltration, ultrafiltration and diafiltration process to remove the unwanted components of whey (fat and lactose) and retain the vital components (the protein, including all of its whey fractions). Power Whey contains a generous amount of all the essential amino acids. It is especially high in the branched chain amino acids and the conditionally essential amino acid L-glutamine. There is over 17 grams of glutamine per 100 grams of protein in the Power Whey Isolate.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Whey?

Next to water, protein is the most predominant substance in the human body. Protein is required in the growth, maintenance and development of all body tissues including muscles, blood, skin, hair, nails, and internal organs (the heart and brain). In short, protein (whey) is essential for life.

What is Xtreme Power Whey?

Xtreme Power Whey is a whey protein that is isolated using a very gentle microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and diafiltration process to remove the unwanted components of whey (fat and lactose) and retain the vital components (the protein including all of its whey fractions). Xtreme Power Whey contains a generous amount of all the essential amino acids. It is especially high in branched chain amino acids and the conditionally essential amino acid L-glutamine.

How is Xtreme Power Whey Different From Other Proteins?

Xtreme Power Whey is derived from a sweet dairy whey (many whey proteins are derived from acid whey). This means that Xtreme Power Whey is a non-denatured and complete whey protein supplement. Xtreme Power Whey's special isolation process yields a complete whey fraction profile including: beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactalbumin, glycomacropeptides, immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, bovine serum albumin.

Does Xtreme Power Whey include Glutamine?

Xtreme Power Whey has a very impressive amino acid profile. As far as glutamine content, Power Whey contains a remarkable level of naturally occurring glutamine. There is over 17 grams of glutamine per 100 grams of protein in the isolate.

Does Xtreme Power Whey include Glutamine Peptides?
Don't be fooled! "Glutamine Peptides" is not glutamine. It is hydrolyzed wheat protein. What's the difference? Well for starters, hydrolyzed wheat protein only contains 30% glutamine as part of its amino acid profile. Some companies add a small amount of hydrolyzed wheat protein and combine it with naturally occurring glutamine in the whey protein in an attempt to mislead you into believing that their product contains a significant amount of added glutamine. For example, in a 50 gram serving of whey protein there is about 8 grams of naturally occurring glutamine. The company will then add 2 grams of hydrolyzed wheat protein and make an implied claim that there is 10 grams of added glutamine in their product! If a product you are currently using is marketed in this manner be skeptical. What else is this company misleading you about? We avoid using hydrolyzed wheat protein (glutamine peptides) in our products as it is a common allergen and a cheaper and inferior source of protein and glutamine.

Expectant mothers protein requirements are increased by as much as 30% so whey protein is an ideal source to obtain the extra protein required.

Whey For A Compromised Immune System

Whey protein enhances the body's immune system by raising Gluathione levels.

In Short, Whey Protein Is For Eveyone!

Does Xtreme Power Whey Contain Lactose?

Lactose is a milk sugar that causes bloating and stomach discomfort in some individuals. Xtreme Power Whey is exceptionally low in lactose. There is less than 2% lactose in the isolate. To put this in perspective, a single serving of the isolate has less than 0.5 grams of lactose. In comparison a 12oz glass of 2% milk has 21 grams of lactose.

How is Xtreme Power Whey Sweetened?

Xtreme Power Whey is sweetened with a revolutionary new sweetener that tastes like sugar but has zero calories. We avoided using any controversial sweeteners like aspartame. Although sucralose (used in our product) is over three times as expensive, it was chosen because we wanted the best and safest choice for you!

Xtreme Power Whey Isolate "All Natural" is also available for individuals that do not want any artificial ingredients including sweeteners, colours, or flavours
